16-year-old arrested after shots fired incident in Washington Park
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Saturday in connection with an alleged shots fired incident in Washington Park, according to the Albany Police Department. He faces multiple charges.
At about 5:45 p.m., on-duty Albany police officers inside the park reportedly heard gunshots coming from the eastern direction of the basketball courts. Upon arrival to the area, the officers allegedly saw the 16-year-old fleeing the scene.
After a brief foot chase, authorities took the suspect into custody. Police later recovered a loaded revolver after searching the area the 16-year-old traveled through, authorities said.
No injuries were reported during the shots fired incident, according to police. The 16-year-old was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment and is reportedly being held at the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
