Teen accused of murder in triple shooting in Times Square: NYPD
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The 17-year-old teenager arrested in connection with the triple shooting in Times Square early Saturday morning is facing charges, including murder, according to the NYPD.
The shooting happened near West 44th Street and Seventh Avenue just before 1:30 a.m., authorities said.
An 18-year-old girl was grazed in the neck, a 19-year-old man was shot in the foot, and a 65-year-old man was hit in the left leg during the shooting, officials report. They were all taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
The shooting may have started as a verbal dispute between the 17-year-old who was taken into custody and the 19-year-old who was shot, police tell PIX11 News.
A firearm was recovered near the scene.
Police charged the 17-year-old with the following:
- Murder
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Three counts of assault
- Three counts of reckless endangerment
- Two counts of criminal possession of a weapon
Police tell PIX11 News that while no victim has died, the teen is being charged with murder, because the person that he targeted was shot.
