The much-buzzed about horror film, about a group of missing children, debuted at No. 1 this weekend with an impressive $42.5 million, according to Variety.
From writer-director Zach Cregger, bst known for 2022’s cult hit Barbarian, the movie stars Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan.
Made for $38 million and released by Warner Bros.’ New Line label, Weapons continues a hot streak for the studio after recent successes like Sinners, A Minecraft Movie and Superman.
His previous film, Barbarian, earned $45.4 million and became a fan favorite among horror lovers. Thanks to the success of Weapons, he’s already set to helm a reboot of Resident Evil.
