Rep. Salinas on 'horrifying' immigration arrests, impacts of Trump cuts on her district
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Oregon Governor Tina Kotek released figures this week showing that federal cuts under the president's "Big beautiful bill" could cost the state billions of dollars over the next several years.
It's something Rep. Andrea Salinas (D-Ore.) has been talking about for months now, especially when it comes to cuts to food assistance and SNAP benefits.
Salinas represents Oregon's 6th Congressional District, which encompasses all of Polk and Yamhill counties, as well as parts of Clackamas, Washington and Marion counties, including the state capital of Salem.
She's the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and much of her district is agricultural, including Oregon wine country.
Salinas returned to Eye on Northwest Politics to share the impact of the Trump cuts, as well as the immigration raids on her district.
