Drunken Confrontation with a Frontier Airlines Employee Leads to Arrest
Two New Jersey sisters have been arrested following an altercation that occurred on May 15, where they are reported to have shoved a Frontier Airlines gate employee. The 22-year-old Kiera Lyons and the 31-year-old Maura Flores have been charged with first-degree battery and disorderly conduct in the second degree.
The two were on route from Orlando International Airport back to their home in Manahawkin, New Jersey. Newly obtained bodycam footage from the Orlando Police Department, obtained by People, reveals details of the event.
The Frontier Airlines employee was found on the ground and alleges that the two women had pushed her to the ground. Other employees corroborated her story, with the initial victim having sustained "minor injuries."
"It was the short, skinny one first that pushed me and then the bigger — her sister — pushed me right after," said the employee in the footage.
According to the reports and footage, Lyons explained that she had been feeling ill on the plane before disembarking. She also alleges a male employee had grabbed her chest.
Moments later, on the jet bridge, the two sisters had gotten into an altercation with the gate employee, leading to the assault. In the footage, Lyons recreated the push on the officer and admitted to having had a few drinks.
The two sisters were detained, taken away, and transported to the police station. Their case has been closed as the two sisters were referred to a pre-trial intervention (PTI) program on September 17.
The program is for non-violent charges, with the two having to go thorugh counseling, community service, and drug-alcohol education courses, with the possiblity of their charges being dropped or dismissed.
