Checking in on Mets’ 2025 AFL Prospects
Sunday marked a milestone in Arizona Fall League play with the AFL Fall Stars Game. Met prospects Nick Morabito and Chris Suero were named to the NL Fall Stars Team. The duo is part of the Scottsdale Scorpions, the Mets’ AFL affiliate, and MLB.com ranks Suero as New York’s 15th-best prospect and Morabito as its 16th-best.
Morabito went 0-for-3 in Sunday night’s festivities, delivering an RBI groundout. He also stole a base. Suero went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts.
With just three games left to play before the playoffs, the Scorpions sit in first place with an 18-8 record.
Below is a look at how each Mets prospect has fared during their time in fall league play.

Offensive Prospects:
- OF Nick Morabito: .369/.461/.477 (.937 OPS), 16 G, 24 H, 16 R, 15 SB, 10 BB, 14 SO
- In his past three games, Morabito hit .500/.571/.500 and stole three bases. The Mets would need to add Morabito to the 40-man roster this offseason as he is Rule-5 eligible for the first time in his career. He stole 49 bases for Double-A Binghamton in 2025, second-best in the league.
- C Chris Suero: .286/.359/.571 (.930 OPS), 14 G, 16 H, 14 R, 5 HR, 14 RBI, 7 BB, 16 SO
- Suero is tied for first in home runs on the team (five) and has shown plus speed on the base paths with seven steals in 14 games.
- OF John Bay: In two games for the Scorpions, Bay hasn’t tallied a hit in seven at-bats, and has seen time in left and right field.
Pitching Prospects:
- RHP Brett Banks: 6 G, 6.00 ERA, 6.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 13 K
- Banks recorded one save in his appearance so far with the Scorpions after recording three between St. Lucie and Brooklyn in 2025. He posted a 2.23 ERA in 2025, but walks plagued him and continue to plague him in fall play.
- RHP Jordan Geber: 3 G, 5.40 ERA, 3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
- Geber’s rough season with Syracuse (8.03 ERA in seven games) continued into the fall with Scottsdale in his limited action.
- RHP Bryce Jenkins: 7 G, 8.59 ERA, 7.1 IP, 5 H, 7 ER, 9 BB, 7 K
- He’s been better in his last three appearances, pitching to a 2.45 ERA compared to a 5.00+ ERA prior.
- RHP Ernesto Mercedes: 3 G, 48.60 ERA, 1.2 IP, 8 H, 9 ER, 4 BB, 0 K
- The 22-year-old suffered in his three appearances, blowing a save, struggling to record an out, and failing to record an out among his troubles.
- RHP: Austin Troesser: 4 G, 3.86 ERA, 4.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K
- Like many Mets before him, Troesser’s struggles with walks continue to haunt him in another stretch. However, despite a small sample size, he’s been the most successful Mets pitcher in AFL action thus far.
