Why 'Downton Abbey' Won't Ever Get Another Movie or TV Show Season
Downton Abbey‘s third film in the franchise, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, was released in theaters earlier this year.
Fans have been hoping that the franchise would live on, despite word that this would be the final film.
Now, we know exactly why there will not be another film or a revived TV season.

The show’s creator Julian Fellowes revealed it is because he did not want to have to introduce the themes of World War II and Nazism into the global hit.
He previously told EW, “I didn’t really want to get into the Nazis and Germany and the lead up to the Second World War. I wanted to leave at a time when that had not yet become apparent as a threat.”
The final film takes place in 1930. For some history, Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany in 1933 and WWII officially began in 1939.
