Thomas Frank reveals what he expects Tottenham to do in January transfer window
Thomas Frank has made some interesting comments about Tottenham’s objectives in the January transfer window.
Spurs ended 2025 with an important 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, which has brought them within five points of Chelsea in fifth place.
It is a big month now coming up for Tottenham, both on and off the pitch, as they look to turn around their form and strengthen their squad.
A number of outlets have said Spurs are willing to make big investments in key positions across the squad, but their head coach has now made some interesting comments about the club’s plan for the upcoming transfer window.
Thomas Frank is non-committal about Tottenham’s January transfer aspirations
Some sources have said that Frank will be given a £150m transfer war chest for the January window.
However, the 52-year-old has now indicated that if there are not sufficient opportunities to strengthen the team, the Lilywhites are prepared to wait until next summer.
When asked about Spurs’ priorities in the January window, Frank responded (via BBC Sport): “Of course, the window will open, and we will be in the market and see if there’s anything we can do, but it will have to be something where we can improve the team. If not, rather wait, but we will be out there.”
Frank admits Spurs are in the midst of a transition
While the win at Selhurst Park temporarily relieves the pressure on Frank, the Dane knows that he still has a lot of work to do to get the team to the desired level.
Frank admitted that Spurs are in a transition phase but insisted that he sees a lot of positive signs.
He added: “I think we are in that transition process where we have been the whole time. Coming into a season where we play Champions League and want to compete in the Premier League as well.
“I think there’s been a lot of positives in terms of the resilience we showed today in a game that’s not perfect. Coming here and winning 1-0 in a tight, tricky game, I think, shows huge quality. We just need to keep building small layers every single game.”
