Netflix Releases Final Trailer for 'Stranger Things' Series Finale - Beloved Character in Jeopardy
The time fans have been waiting nearly a decade for is finally here: the Stranger Things series finale is set for Dec. 31 and fans will finally see how their favorites characters' stories will end.
Here's the full synopsis of the final season: "The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time."
Final Trailer for Season 5 and Series Finale Revealed
Just a day before the series finale hits Netflix, the streaming giant revealed the final trailer for the final episode of the final season. The trailer showcases fan favorite character Jim Hopper delivering a final pep talk to Eleven before she faces off in one last battle.
As Hopper's words encourage El throughout the trailer, Netflix tied previous seasons together with snippets of their previous battles before a showdown with Vecna and the largest monster the Upside Down has produced yet.
One last trailer.

Fan-Favorite Character in Jeopardy
As fans watched along with the trailer they realized a key character appears to be in jeopardy: Steve Harrington.
A cut shot of Dustin's horrified reaction to something that happens off screen has fans wondering if Harrington will perish in the series finale. If so, he was never even supposed to make it this far.
Matt and Ross Duffer differ on when Harrington's character was supposed to die with the former suggesting Joe Keery's beloved character was never supposed to come back in Season 1.
“Originally, that was going to be Jonathan’s dad, Lonnie,” he said before revealing “it’s hard to even imagine what that would have looked liked [without Steve]." In an interview before the final season debuted, the brothers confirmed Harrington wasn't supposed to make it to Season 4.
The series finale is set for 8 p.m. ET on Netflix.
