Lakers rookie Adou Thiero to miss at least 4 weeks with MCL sprain
Lakers rookie Adou Thiero will be sidelined for at least one month because of a right knee injury.
The team announced on Wednesday night that Thiero was diagnosed with a right MCL sprain and will be re-evaluated in about four weeks.
It was unclear at the time of the Lakers’ announcement how and when Theiro suffered the injury. The 6-foot-7 forward played in the team’s past six games, including three fourth-quarter minutes in Tuesday night’s home loss to the Detroit Pistons, and 15 of their last 18 games.
The Lakers selected Thiero out of Arkansas with the No. 36 pick in June’s NBA draft after moving up twice to acquire the pick to select him.
Thiero was a modified participant in practices during the preseason and to start the regular season because of swelling in his left knee.
Thiero had surgery on his left knee before the Lakers drafted him.
He was averaging 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds while shooting 38.9% from the field in 5.8 minutes per game.
