Trotman eyeing St Michael Central
A new chapter is set to open in St Michael Central, with the Barbados Labour Party confirming a January 15, 2026 nomination for the constituency, amid indications that sitting MP and Speaker of the House Arthur Holder will not be returning to elective politics.
Attorney Tyra Trotman, who has put her name forward for the nomination, said Holder has given his full blessing to her decision to contest the seat and confirmed that he would not be seeking re-election.
“No, he’s not returning to elective politics,” Trotman said when asked directly whether Holder would be contesting the constituency at the next General Election.
Trotman, switched from the Democratic Labour Party to the Barbados Labour Party last year, said discussions with Holder began shortly after her move, following her ongoing work in the constituency.
When contacted by THE NATION, Holder declined to comment on his political future at this time, saying he would speak on the matter later today. (CLM)
