A year later, what are the resources and services that remain, have been added or updated to help those affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires?

Altadena Eaton Fire Relief Fund

Bank of America Rebuild Solutions

The bank’s December 2025 new program to help those who lost their homes in the January 2025 fires to help their mortgage clients with the “looming liquidity crunch — when insurance money stops subsidizing rental housing as mortgage payments resume following the end of forbearance,” from a press release, to preserve cash flow while rebuilding their home. Three features: Extends forbearance by up to two additional years beyond the current 12-month forbearance period; Provides construction gap financing for rebuild costs once insurance proceeds run out; Preserves the existing lower interest rate on the underlying mortgage. California Community Foundation

The California Community Foundation is accepting donations at calfund.org/funds/wildfire-recovery-fund/ toward its Wildfire Recovery Fund to aid those affected by the fires. The nonprofit has provided more than $32 million in relief to victims of wildfire since 2003, according to the foundation’s website.

City of Malibu Fee Waiver Program

The program aims to help property owners rebuild after the Broad, Franklin and Palisades fires. The program eliminates city planning and building permit fee for like-for-like, owner-occupied homes and duplexes. Deadline dates include June 30, 2028 for submitting a fee waiver application (by 4 p.m. on that date), and also, the planning application must be “deemed complete). Eaton Fire Relief and Recovery Fund

The Pasadena Community Foundation has started the Eaton Fire Relief and Recovery Fund to help those affected by the Eaton fire (https://pasadenacf.org/fund/eaton-fire/). LA County Recovers

Los Angeles County Emergency Rent Relief Program

The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs opened online applications on Dec. 17, 2025 for this new program. The program is administered by the DCBA in partnership with The Center by Lendistry and the program will distribute more than $23 million in rental and mortgage relief to eligible landlords and homeowners affected by the Palisades, Eaton, and other wildfires. The deadline to submit an application is by 4:59 p.m. Jan. 23, 2026. An application does not guarantee funding. Screen Actors Guild

To support impacted members of the SAG community, donations may be made to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, which operates a natural disaster relief fund at members.sagfoundation.org/donate. Shop Local. Dine Local. Recover Local.

The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity has a pilot program for small businesses — food, retail, services — that have been impacted by the Eaton and Palisades fires to make their businesses known to the wider community through a business registry. Los Angeles County has partnered with the cities of Los Angeles, Malibu, Pasadena and Santa Monica for this program. A small business may be eligible if it has less than 100 employees and is in a brick-and-mortar building in the affected wildfires areas (see the website, however, for the ineligible business list). American Red Cross

The American Red Cross accepts donations online. The organization plays a role in disaster recovery by providing emergency shelters, meals, medical care, and recovery planning services. Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation

The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation is the official nonprofit of the Los Angeles City Fire Department. The organization supports over 3,000 local firefighters and paramedics by providing equipment and tools to help them fight wildfires effectively. The Salvation Army

Community 1-year anniversary gathering

City of Malibu’s “Palisades Fire Remembrance – Finding Strength in Community – A Healing Moment” is scheduled to include a Chumash blessing, a moment of silence for lives lost, a remembrance poem by Charlotte Ward, Malibu’s poet laureate, and an art gallery paying tribute to first responders and community members, and a memorial area, 4 p.m. Jan. 7. Update on these relief programs

SupplyBank.org Disaster Relief Fund 

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and the California Department of Education joined forces with the nonprofit SupplyBank.org to gather and distribute donations and emergency resources to school communities most affected by the wildfires. As of Nov. 10, 2025, all donations made to the nonprofit’s Disaster Relief Fund website (supplybank.org/disaster-relief-fund/) have been directed to the food assistance programs through the California Association of Food Banks (https://secure.givelively.org/donate/california-association-of-food-bank).

Los Angeles County announced on Dec. 15 that a grant program ended
