Bindi Irwin’s Incredible New Family Photo With Daughter Grace Shows What They’re Prioritizing in 2026
After a whirlwind year full of travel, supporting Robert Irwin on Dancing with the Stars, and visiting family members from the US, Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are kicking off 2026 at home in Australia Zoo. The couple shared a heartwarming new family photo with daughter Grace Warrior, 4, that reveals exactly what they’re prioritizing in the new year.
“Starting 2026 right❤️” Powell captioned a new picture on Instagram. For this wild family, the “right” way to start off the year is surrounded by animals, of course! In the picture, Powell and Bindi are dressed in Australia Zoo khaki as they smile next to two huge tortoises at the zoo. Grace is right in the center, leaning on one tortoise and reaching out to pet the other one. She’s wearing a floral sundress with her hair in a braid — and a doll in her hand! — as she smiles for the camera.
You can tell she has such an ease around these animals that didn’t fade at all while spending three months in Los Angeles in the fall! Spending more time with wildlife and focusing on their conservation projects is clearly what this family is putting first to kick off the new year, and we love that they always continue the late Steve Irwin’s mission with whatever they do.
Bindi’s mom (and Grace’s “Bunny”) Terri Irwin commented, “So much love!????”
“2 beautiful tortoises, 2 amazing parents, and one show-stealing lil’ ham!!! ????” another commented.
In November, Grace reunited with her tortoise friend Igloo after spending a few months in LA. “H O M E. ???? The first thing Grace wanted to do? See her best friend, Igloo. @australiazoo” Bindi captioned a video on Instagram. In the clip, Grace ran up to her animal friend and told him, “Hi, I missed you!”
A month later, Terri posted a picture of Grace and her tortoise spending time together again. “Best friends seem to share thoughts. So much love.????” We’re obsessed!
Back when Grace was just a baby, Igloo and Grace already connected on a deeper level. Bindi told Entertainment Tonight in Jan. 2022 that the Aldabra tortoise named Igloo was Grace’s best friend. “No joke, he comes up to here on me, like up to my waist. He’s massive and the cutest.”
“When he sees Grace, he runs across his paddock, which is huge,” Bindi continued. “If you’re a tortoise, you can’t really run very fast, but he does his best, runs across the paddock to see her and just sits. She tries to pat him, and she just ends up kind of like hitting him on the head.”
Bindi added, “They love each other! It’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen. I love that my daughter’s best friend is a tortoise.”
Hopefully we’ll see more of their sweet bonding moments this year!
