The Toxic Innocence Of Empire

There is an exact and troubling historical correlation between the Trump administration’s imperialist aggression against Venezuela and Israel’s perpetual crimes against humanity. Both can be traced to a Western settler-colonialist worldview possessed by a sense of insatiable entitlement, and the psychological carnage concomitant to a citizenry given to the brutality inherent to the pursuit of colonialist and/or imperialist agendas.

Whether the collective mode of mind is termed Manifest Destiny or Zionist doctrine, both are manifested in the ethnic cleansing of indigenous people that can be traced back to a European belief system that insists upon its innate (White supremacy-rancid) superiority.

Both the denizens of Manifest Destiny and Zionist true believers retail the Big Lie: that the people resisting their land-thieving aggression are mindless savages who, without provocation, and simply maddened by bloodlust, present an existential threat to their (forever innocent and blameless) existence.

For example, unhinged, rage-frothing Zionist apologists’ accusations that critiques of Israel — are not only anti-semitic declarations — but are “Blood Libel.”

How could it be true, that, as a Jewish person, that because I experience a sense of mortification in regard to the IDF perpetration of large scale collective punishment in Gaza is analogous to the Middle Ages’ dark fantasy that we Jews sprinkle gentile blood on our sabbath bread? Moreover, how could it also be true that condemnation of the Zionist state’s acts of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and its perpetration of genocide in Gaza is defamation directed at all Jews? Of course, the accusations are merely attempts to silence critiques of Israeli policies.

Speaking of a paucity of critique:

At present, Democrats have a propitious opening to separate themselves from Trump’s militaristic, imperialist caprice. Instead, we are subject to their enabling palaver such as “the president should have informed Democrat leadership in advance of his shakedown scheme to steal Venezuela’s oil reserves.” Yet Democrats, de facto, co-sign the lie that he was in some manner entitled to imposed regime change on a sovereign nation because its leader “was a narco-trafficking, election stealing dictator.”

Has a Democrat retorted that Trump attempted, by dictatorial whim, to remain in office in the wake of an election he lost in 2020, even by attempting to foment an insurrection to that deranged end?

Have any Democrats asserted, Trump, a man who regards the Gaza genocide as an opportunity for real estate transactions, should be placed in shackles, then frogmarched to The Hague to face a war crimes tribunal for his abuse of US military power, both on a domestic and international basis. Have any liberals averred: fascism is imperialism turned homeward?

Joe Biden’s noxious policies towards Israel and Venezuela set the stage for Trump’s – the Big Mac-bloated Caligula – imperialist designs. War profiteers-owned Democrats have all but placed a laurel wreath crown (corona triumphalis) on the wannabe emperor’s head…and yes, Trump, The High Chair Emperor, in his perpetual swoon of infantile omnipotence, would gloat that his name can be discerned from the Latin root of the term.

The gods elevate – then make mad – who they aim to destroy.

On the subject of madness of the grandiose, imperialistic kind:

The Trump Whitehouse’s resident Heinrich Himmler, Stephen Miller made the declaration:

“We live in a world, in the real world, Jake, that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power. These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”

Someone should intervene on Heir Miller by imposing a history book in front of his (cartoon) hyper-authoritarian face. The Thousand Year Reich lasted all of twelve years.

Benito Mussolini and his Blackshirt thugs held out a bit longer, about 20 years, before Il Duce’s and his mistress’ lifeless bodies were hung, upside down, on public display, from a lamppost in Milan.

The collective madness of imperial overreach:

In Vietnam, US war profiteers, and the political class they owned, lied the nation into the Big Muddy; then in Iraq, a sand pit. An attempted theft of Venezuelan oil fields could be a trudge into a jungle green hellscape.

Trump is a practitioner of the short con. The realities of war are beyond his cupidity-rancid take on life. Trump was born into the New York City culture of grift — that is the terrain Trump knows …that is his swamp — not the morass of a land war in a tropical clime wherein the locals move in stealth beneath the green on green gradations of the jungle canopy, a bewildering, alien terrain that bogs down military hardware, boggles the minds of yankee troops, and its death-delivering verities are far beyond the grasp of a blowhard manqué like Trump and his administration of lickspittle tools and preening fools.

It is a US imperialist Big Lie (of the Saddam Hussein possesses Weapons Of Mass Destruction kind) that the “dictator” Nicolás Maduro rigged his election.

Insofar as election-rigging proclivities: The hyper-capitalist US is a dictatorship of money. The moneyed class owns and controls the US political class, and thus determines every aspect of your day. You believe you have choices, huh? Money, the amount you possess or are lacking in, determines the trajectory of your day, from when you rise, to what you take in as nutrition, to where your day will take you, to at what hour you arrive home, and when you surrender to sleep, and start it all again on a new day.

Can you envisage a more odious con job i.e., being sold the defining lie of The United States Of Perpetual Grift — as is the case with Nicolás Maduro and his wife — your life has been abducted by capitalist interests.

It should not be a mystery as to the reason mental illness is pandemic in the US and Israel.

As has been the case in the US there has been a flurry of news about a steep rise in mental health issues among the Israeli public. The unhinged comments to which I’m, relentlessly, subject to on my comment threads on social media appear to confirm the fact. For example, the following straw man fallacy formation, constructed into the troll’s personal insane asylum, was raged in my pixel direction on my Substack platform’s comment thread,

“Phil, you kapo, why do you think the world would be a better place if Israel was destroyed by hordes of caliphates?”

Hordes of caliphates aside, the world would be, a bit, improved if Israel became a true democracy, established a Palestinian Right Of Return, with heartfelt amends proffered, and provided generous reparations to the Palestinian people for their 80 years of subjugation by the Zionist state. Moreover, I believe the action would bestow a healing effect upon the troubled psyches of the Israeli citizenry.

This much is true, if the ending of Israel’s ethno-supremacist status ceased to be, its leaders tried for war crimes, and the Zionist state ended its policy of ethnic cleansing and its compulsion for genocidal campaigns…that would be a mitzvah for all. As it would if the US ceased its imperial campaign in Venezuela.

The fascist Trump administration evinces utter contempt for international law. Authoritarian regimes claim the law is what they, by arrogant whim, say it is.
