NWSL players challenge league over new HIP rule that sits outside the salary cap
January 16 – The National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSPLA) has filed a fresh grievance against the league, arguing that the newly introduced High Impact Player (HIP) rule breaches both the collective bargaining agreement and federal labour law.
It is the second grievance the union has lodged in six weeks, underlining the tension between players, clubs, and league leadership in the ecosystem of single-entity.
At the heart of the dispute is control.
