What makes this photo important?
I shot my first Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field in 2015. Caleb Williams is the 6th starting quarterback and Ben Johnson is the 4th head coach I've photographed. But, this year is the first time I get to witness the Bears making it to the second round of the playoffs. They haven't played in a Super Bowl since 2007. This season has been a long time coming for the franchise and city, after years of losing in some of the most heartbreaking ways.
How I got this photo
It's always a mad dash for photographers trying to get images of the coaches and players as they shake hands and walk off the field after the game. After the Bears beat the Green Bay Packers 31 - 27 in an NFC wild-card game, I tried to keep one eye on Williams as I positioned myself with my back toward the tunnel, hoping I could backpedal and capture the jubilation as players head out. A lot of this job is being in the right place at the right time.
