Zoe Ball Has Something To Say About Those Strictly Come Dancing Hosting Rumours
Zoe Ball has spoken out amid rumours that she’s in consideration to become one of the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing.
Last month, The Sun published a list of the “golden ten” names rumoured to be on BBC bosses’ shortlists to take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman at the helm of Strictly.
This list included Zoe, who competed on the show back in 2005, before taking over the spin-off series It Takes Two, and even filling in on the main show in Claudia’s absence.
Over the weekend, The Sunday Times published a new interview with the former Radio 2 breakfast show host, in which she admitted that Strictly is “all anyone talks to me about” at the moment.
She enthused: “I love that show. I loved performing on it with Ian Waite, who is one of my best buddies. It’s so joyful – and it’s live telly, which is another thing that people don’t give [Tess and Claudia] enough credit for.
“That show is a beast. Whoever gets to do it has a tough act to follow.”
Zoe continued: “Obviously there’s part of me that would love to do it. But I will still be watching, whoever hosts it.”
She also went on to praise some of the other prolific presenters tipped to be in the running, most notably her former It Takes Two co-host Rylan Clark, as well as suggesting Vernon Kay as a suitable successor to his wife, Tess.
Of the 10 names on The Sun’s supposed shortlist, two – Amanda Holden and Alan Carr – have already ruled themselves out, with another rumoured hot favourite appearing to pour water on the rumours that he’s being lined up for the gig during a recent interview.
Strictly Come Dancing will return to our screens for its 24th series on BBC One, with two brand new hosts, later this year.
