THE LOWDOWN
David Gray’s men are seeking to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches following a disappointing Scottish Gas Scottish Cup exit last weekend in Fife.
Three consecutive victories – against Hearts, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock – have been bookended by draws against Dundee United and Motherwell across the New Year period; currently placing us fifth in the William Hill Premiership.
However, last Saturday’s late defeat to Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park was undoubtedly a bitter blow for the team as a stoppage-time own goal was enough to send the home team through to the next stage.
TEAM NEWS
Club Captain Joe Newell made his first start for over a year against Dunfermline Athletic last weekend, while Nicky Cadden and Martin Boyle also returned following injury at the weekend.
Josh Mulligan went off injured against Dunfermline with a suspected ankle injury. Gray will provide the latest on him, as well as Josh Campbell - who is also a doubt for the weekend - when he speaks to the media on Friday afternoon.
THE HOSTS
John McGlynn’s outfit continue to impress in their first season back in the topflight; finding themselves in sixth-place and eyeing a top-half spot once the split comes around.
The Bairns are currently five points behind Hibs following a solid start to 2026 having won two Premiership games from three – securing wins over Aberdeen and St Mirren, while only narrowly losing out to Celtic last time out in the league.
Falkirk progressed to the Scottish Cup Fifth Round last weekend after defeating Hearts at Tynecastle Park on penalties following a 1-1 draw. January signing Ben Parkinson, brought in from Newcastle United, opened the scoring before Lawrence Shankland equalised late on from the penalty spot. Parkinson would go on to net the winning penalty for the Bairns to secure their place in the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup.
Our last meeting with the Bairns took place at Easter Road in December, with Martin Boyle opening the scoring from the penalty spot before Kieron Bowie grabbed a brace to secure a professional 3-0 victory in Leith.
