Here Are The Snowboarders Chosen To Represent The U.S. In The 2026 Olympics
In 2015 at the age of 20, Maddy Schaffrick retired from competitive snowboarding, and decided to try and become a plumber.
Now, she's headed to Milano-Cortina for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Schaffrick is one of 97 Americans that will represent U.S. Ski and Snowboard in Italy at the Olympics next month. She’ll be one of four American women riding the halfpipe, as she joins Bea Kim, Chloe Kim, and Maddie Mastro.
“The athletes we are sending to the Games represent a large portion of Team USA and I am confident about the impact they will make in Italy,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt in a press release. “More than the results, our athletes are also bringing some of the most captivating story lines to Milano Cortina, and we are so excited to see the impact they will have while representing their country in February.”
Lily Dhawornvej and Jess Perlmutter will both represent the American women in the slopestyle contest. Both riders are just 16 years old, and they’ll be joined by Hahna Norman. All of them will be competing in their first Olympics. Ollie Martin will join them on the slopestyle course. He is just 17, and also competing in his first Olympics.
On the flip side, Nick Baumgartner will be competing in his fifth Olympics in Snowboard Cross. Baumgartner finally achieved Olympic gold in 2022, when he and Lindsey Jacobellis won in the inaugural team event race.
“Representing our country at the Olympic Games is the highest honor and this roster reflects the talent and commitment we believe will succeed on the world’s biggest stage. In many ways, making this team is even harder than the Olympics themselves,” said Rick Bower, the snowboard team Program Director. “The depth of our field is incredible and selection truly came down to the wire. These athletes pushed each other all season and every spot was earned. From seasoned veterans making their fifth Olympic team all the way to our youngest athlete at 16-years-old, the talent on this team is immense and we’re thrilled to head into the Games with this snowboard squad. Very excited to see what they’re able to accomplish for Team USA!”
