As of late, the only thing I’m concerned about is having soft, moisturized skin. And if you ask me, there’s a lot more that goes into doing so than just a shower and some lotion. However, it’s in the shower where the process really starts. Aside from regularly cleansing our bodies, the soap we use while bathing can make a huge difference in how our skin feels. Which is why I’m officially adding Dove’s new Serum + Radiance Oil Body Wash to my routine.
Since we’re in the throes of what feels like a long and brutal winter, my skin is at its driest. I like to think I do a good enough job moisturizing at night with a thick body butter, but sometimes that’s not enough. I find myself lathering on two coats to feel somewhat good in my skin. But the truth is, I can feel my skin tightening and drying even before I step out of the shower, which makes me realize my current routine is no longer working for me. I needed a body wash that left my skin feeling nourished after rinsing, without leaving an uncomfortable residue.
An easy fix (or so I thought) would be to add an oil-based body cleanser at the end of my routine. However, after using a very coveted, very iconic French shower oil and feeling not much of a difference, I didn’t think it would be worth sticking to. Although those thoughts have changed after using Dove’s Serum + Radiance Oil Body Wash for the past 48 hours, I’m rethinking my entire shower routine.
Most oil washes have a light, almost slime-like texture that can feel slippery when applied to the body. And because it contains oil, it often feels like the wash is just sitting on your skin rather than absorbing. Not to mention, there’s very little lather to it, and if you’re like me, you enjoy a good lathery soap. And if you can guess, Dove’s is nothing like this.
The Serum + Radiance Oil Body Wash is infused with 50% glycerin, which offers the skin deep hydration by drawing moisture into the skin. In fact, glycerin is the first ingredient listed on the back of the bottle, when it’s typically water that’s listed first on other washes. And you can feel the difference at the first pump. The oil body wash has a nice weight to it compared to other options. It’s not as dense as your typical, cream-based body wash, but not as light as other shower oils that slip right through your hands or loofah. And it lathers beautifully the minute you apply it to your skin and give it a little scrub, giving you the clean of your go-to body wash with the moisture of a shower oil.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention it smells phenomenal. With any Dove product, you can expect well-scented aromas, and this one did not disappoint. The oil body wash is available in three fragrances — Coconut & Geranium, Almond Oil & Sandal Wood, and Jojoba Oil & Monoi Flower. Still, it’s the Jojoba and Monoi scent that I’ve tried and adore. It has a very sophisticated floral aroma with soft, earthy hints that create a luxurious scent experience every time you use it.
While it’s only been three days since I first tried the new Serum + Radiance Oil Body Wash, I can already tell it’s going to be a key player in my shower routine, and hopefully yours too. You can find it available on Amazon.com for just $13.
