Airtel Malawi promises reliable network
Airtel Malawi says it is committed to providing reliable and high-quality network services as demand for mobile and internet connectivity continues to rise across the country.
Speaking during a visit by the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Hon. Dr. Shadreck Namalomba, Airtel Malawi’s Acting Managing Director and Director of Finance, Abdul Shaik, assured that the company is actively investing in network infrastructure to meet the needs of its growing customer base.
Shaik said Airtel has been rolling out new network sites and increasing capacity in high-traffic areas to enhance service delivery.
He acknowledged that challenges such as fiber cuts and delays in importing network equipment due to forex shortages have affected progress, but emphasized that the company is taking steps to address them.
“We remain focused on providing superior service to meet the growing needs of our customers. While some delays have occurred due to forex constraints, we are committed to improving network coverage and reliability across the country,” Shaik said.
The company is also exploring innovative solutions, including the planned rollout of Starlink Satellite Direct-to-Cell services. This technology is expected to improve coverage in rural and underserved areas and ensure service continuity during network outages.
Airtel is currently awaiting regulatory approval from MACRA for the project.
During his visit, Minister Namalomba pledged government support to facilitate access to forex for critical network equipment and to engage with MACRA on the approval of the new Starlink service.
The Minister also appealed to the public to refrain from vandalizing communications infrastructure, which he said affects service quality.
Airtel Malawi says it remains committed to delivering seamless connectivity and enhanced customer experiences across the country.
