The Beckham Family Feud: The Full Timeline Of The Fall-Out
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably spent the last week engrossed in the first water cooler celebrity moment of 2026 – Brooklyn Peltz Beckham very publicly breaking up with his family.
Not only did the oldest Beckham son say he had no interest in reconciling with his famous parents, Sir David and Victoria, he also laid out a comprehensive list of reasons for why that was the case, accusing them of “controlling” and “performative” behaviour for most of his life (HuffPost UK contacted both Sir David and Victoria’s team for comment this week but did receive a response).
Brooklyn’s posts were confirmation of a rift that had been relentlessly reported by the tabloids in recent history via “sources” and social media activity from various members of the Beckham family.
Here’s a timeline of where it all started, and how it led to Brooklyn’s public statement…
April 2022: Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham’s wedding
In April 2022, Brooklyn and his now-wife Nicola Peltz Beckham got married in Palm Beach, Florida.
At the time, many picked up on the fact that Nicola didn’t wear a wedding dress designed by her mother-in-law Victoria, instead opting for a Valentino number, which first sparked rumours that the pair weren’t seeing eye-to-eye.
Nicola later brushed off these claims, insisting that while she had initially planned to wear Victoria’s design, but it didn’t work out.
“I was going to and I really wanted to,” Nicola said. “And then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.
“She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then [the press] ran with that.”
Brooklyn also chimed in during the same interview, insisting that “everyone” in his family “gets along” just fine.
April 2025: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Romeo Beckham reportedly fall out
In April 2025, TMZ published a story reporting that Brooklyn was no longer on speaking terms with his younger brother Romeo Beckham.
The US outlet alleged that Brooklyn had cut ties when Romeo began dating his so-called former “romantic connection” Kim Turnbull.
Kim later responded to rubbish the story, insisting she had “never been romantically involved in any capacity at any point with the person in question” and publicly requesting to remove herself from the narrative.
May 2025: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham skips dad Sir David Beckham’s 50th birthday
When a bunch of A-listers and the rest of the Beckham family gathered for Sir David’s 50th birthday, Brooklyn was noticeably absent.
He was also missing from a subsequent father-and-son fishing trip, attended by his brothers Romeo and Cruz.
Sir David later shared a picture of said trip to Instagram, publicly telling Brooklyn: “You were missed.”
September 2025: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham addresses question about his family
A few months down the line, Brooklyn responded to a question from the Daily Mail asking about “how he “copes with all the talk about his family and his private life”, saying: “There’s always going to be people saying negative things but I have a very supportive wife.
“Me and her, we just do our thing, we just keep our heads down and work. And we’re happy.”
August 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham renew their vows without the Beckhams
Three years after their wedding, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows at the Peltz family’s estate, with no sign of David, Victoria or the Beckham siblings.
Brooklyn later addressed this in his Instagram statement explaining: “We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
October 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham skip Victoria Beckham’s documentary premiere and Sir David’s knighthood
A few months later, Brooklyn and Nicola seemed to be absent from Victoria’s Netflix documentary premiere (having attended David’s in 2023) while in November, Brooklyn was also missing when his father received his knighthood from King Charles.
December 2025: Sir David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly blocked by their son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham on Instagram
At the end of 2025, Brooklyn and Romeo’s younger brother Cruz appeared to extend an olive branch when he reposted an old picture of his brothers and their dad, alongside the caption: “Love you guys.”
However, when later headlines claimed his parents had unfollowed Brooklyn on Instagram, Cruz publicly shot back, writing: “NOT TRUE”.
“My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I,” he alleged.
A spokesperson for the Spice Girls star also told People magazine that it “isn’t true” that she and her husband had unfollowed Brooklyn.
January 2026: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham publicly addresses the feud with the rest of his family, claiming he has no wish to reconcile
On 19 January, Brooklyn posted a series of Instagram stories to his 17 million followers, confirming he had fallen out with his family, and outlining a number of incidents that he claimed contributed to this.
Reflecting on his and Nicola’s wedding, Brooklyn alleged that Victoria had “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress”.
He also appeared to confirm reports that Victoria had upset both himself and his new wife when performer and friend of the Beckhams, Marc Anthony, introduced the former Spice Girls singer to the stage as “the most beautiful woman in the room” during their reception.
Brooklyn claimed: “Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.
“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
The aspiring chef also addressed being absent from key events like his dad’s birthday party, stating that he travelled to London to see him but was “rejected”.
“He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,” Brooklyn claimed.
At the time of writing, none of the Beckhams have directly publicly responded to Brooklyn’s statement.
