WATCH: Border Commander Greg Bovino Fires Back at CNN’s Dana Bash as She Defends Attempted ICE Shooter in Minneapolis, Accuses Him of Victim Blaming

In a not-so-shocking endorsement of leftwing violence, CNN Host Dana Bash attempted to defend the leftwing terrorist who was shot dead by a border patrol in Minneapolis, describing him as a “victim” during an interview with Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino on Sunday. 

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Border Patrol fatally shot a man during a struggle this morning after the suspect pulled his gun on agents.

“The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.  “Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Bovino told reporters on Saturday that the incident occurred while federal agents were attempting to arrest Jose Huerta Chuma of Ecuador, an illegal alien who had a record of domestic assault to intentionally inflict bodily harm, disorderly conduct, and driving without a valid license.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti appeared to be trying to “do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement” with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and two fully loaded magazines when he was shot dead, Bovino said.

During Bovino’s appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Bash was adamant that the Department of Homeland Security was lying, that the suspect was only “trying to help,” and that he was only filming law enforcement, “which is a legal thing to do in the United States of America.”

Bash: What you are saying is that he went there to try to stop this law enforcement operation. All of the video that we have seen shows him documenting it with his cell phone, which is a lawful thing to do, and the only time he seemed to interact with law enforcement is when they went after him, when he was trying to help an individual who law enforcement pushed down. So where do you have the evidence to show that he was trying to impede that that law enforcement operation?

Bovino: Sure, Dana. First, he was there in the scene. He was in the scene actively impeding and assaulting law enforcement to the point—

Bash: But that’s not illegal! He wasn’t— He wasn’t impeding it. He was filming it, which is a legal thing to do in the United States of America.

Bovino: Let’s don’t freeze frame adjudicate this now. He was there for a reason, and that reason was to impede law enforcement to the point—

Bash: What evidence do you have of that?

Bovino: And here’s a good point, Dana, is the fact that de-escalation techniques were utilized during this action. Those de-escalation techniques, whether it was physically trying to remove them from that law enforcement scene, that active law enforcement scene in which law enforcement were going after a violent illegal alien, or the use of pepper spray, which is another de-escalation technique, those techniques did not work.

Later in the interview, Bash accused Bovino of “blaming the victim,” and he fired back, “The victims are the Border Patrol agents. I’m not blaming the Border Patrol agents.”

Bash: With respect, it feels as though, in some ways, you’re blaming the victim here.

Bovino: The victim? The victims are the Border Patrol agents. I’m not blaming the Border Patrol agents. The victim are the Border Patrol agents. The suspect put himself in that situation. The victims are the Border Patrol agents there.

Bovino further confirmed, to Bash’s demise, that the agents would remain on the job with only a temporary break from field duties in Minneapolis, but “they’ll be at a different location.”

Bash: Are the agents who were involved still on the job?

Bovino: Yes, there these border patrol agents are going to, more than likely, be on administrative duty. But they will remain Border Patrol agents.

Bash: What does that mean? So they’ll be off the streets for a bit?

Bovino: In Minneapolis, they will, but only in Minneapolis, here. They’ll, be at a different location.
