Dayco expands belt line for trucks, SUVs
Dayco has expanded its Ela serpentine belt lineup in North America with the introduction of part number 6PK1742EE, engineered specifically for a range of full-size pickup trucks and SUVs.
Designed as an improvement over the original equipment belt, this new Ela model demonstrates superior tension decay performance based on SAE laboratory testing, maintaining tighter, more efficient operation for longer periods. It provides coverage for more than 2.8 million vehicles in operation.
Ela, or stretch belts, are built for systems that operate without a tensioner, making elasticity and tension retention essential to preventing slip and ensuring proper accessory function. The new Dayco belt features a wear-resistant EPDM rib material and an elastic EPDM cushion surrounding a polyamide tensile cord, enabling the tension characteristics needed to manage accessory loads.
It is also the first Ela belt designed to drive more than a single accessory on GM 5.3L and 6.2L engines.
“We’re excited to bring this latest advancement in belt technology to the aftermarket,” said Jerry Reeves, head of product management at Dayco North America. “This isn’t just a new part number — It’s the longest Ela belt on the market. And because of its length and complexity, it took significant development from our engineering team to create a new construction that would outperform the OEM belt.”
