Sydney Sweeney Faces Criminal Charges Over Promotional Bra Stunt
It's a good thing Sydney Sweeney is coming out with a new lingerie range, as a recent stunt by the actress may cost her if the case goes to court.
In new footage obtained by TMZ, the Euphoria actress can be seen climbing a mountain to reach the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, decorating the iconic landmark in bras. In the exclusive video, Sweeney can be seen wearing a hood and donning a baseball cap as she works under the cover of darkness.
The actress, who recently starred in the box office smash hit The Housemaid, is accompanied by a crew as she climbs up the sign's letters, leaving bras in difficult-to-reach places. The group ties bras together by their back straps, making a sort of sexy tinsel wrapped all around the sign. At the end of the footage, they hastily climb back down the mountain and flee the scene.
According to TMZ, the upcoming lingerie line, although still under wraps, is backed by Amazon billionaire and CEO,Jeff Bezos. Sweeney attended Bezos' wedding to Lauren Sanchez last summer.
In an email obtained by the outlet, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Sweeney's production company were informed could not use the sign in commercial footage without getting prior approval from the Chamber. She also didn't have permission to touch — let alone climb — the sign. There have been fatal incidents connected to falls from the sign.
If the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce seeks to press charges, the Christy actress and her crew could be charged with vandalism or criminal trespass — or both. In 2017, for example, Zachary Cole Fernandez, a 30-year-old artist, was arrested and charged for trespassing and vandalism, after adapting the Hollywood sign to read "Hollyweed."
Sweeney will likely be grateful to Bezos' backing for the planned lingerie range if the case goes any further. So far, no arrests or charges have been made.
