Seven Dials Fans Are Turning To Another Agatha Christie Mystery On Netflix
After the success of Netflix’s recent Agatha Christie adaptation Seven Dials, another series based on the Queen of Crime’s work is having a resurgence on the platform.
Seven Dials – based on the Christie book of the same name – launched two weeks ago and quickly topped Netflix’s list of its most-watched shows right now in the UK.
More recently, the service has quietly added six seasons of Marple and 13 series of Poirot to their catalogue.
According to Metro, Marple began climbing Netflix’s top 10 list earlier this week, with viewers seemingly clambering to watch another classic Agatha Christie adaptation off the back of Seven Dials.
Originally airing on ITV in 2004, the drama follows Jane Marple, who uses her sleuthing skills to crack cases in her quaint English village of St Mary Mead.
The late Geraldine McEwan brought Marple to life in the first three seasons, before Julia McKenzie took over the role for the latter three.
If you love celebrity spotting, you’ll find a lot of famous faces in Marple, too, with Amanda Holden, Benedict Cumberbatch, Carey Mulligan and Joanna Lumley all making appearances in the cosy whodunnit.
Christie purists be warned, though, that this show takes some liberties with the source material, with the show inserting Marple into other Christie stories that she was not originally included in.
As for a second series of Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, creator Chris Chibnall has claimed that it’s unlikely Bundle will return – although we may see Martin Freeman’s Superintendent Battle again.
