Luminar sauna offers permanent design element within the home
Promotion: wellness technology company Sun Home Saunas has launched Luminar, a design-led home sauna created to complement contemporary residential architecture.
Luminar is designed to challenge utilitarian, temporary home saunas by offering a model that "feels architectural, durable and visually restrained".
According to Sun Home Saunas, its design meets the growing demand for high-quality saunas that promote wellness in the comfort of the home.
"We designed the Luminar to raise the bar for what the best home sauna should be – not only in performance, but in how it integrates into contemporary architecture," said Tyler Fish, co-founder of Sun Home Saunas.
"Rather than treating it as a standalone product, we approached it as a permanent design element within the home."
Luminar's design centres around clean-cut lines, hidden hardware and rectilinear geometry, which Sun Home Saunas said was developed in line with modern architecture.
It can accommodate up to five people and be installed in both indoor and outdoor environments, thanks to a durable material palette.
The exterior is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminium, an alloy that is both weather- and corrosion-resistant. Meanwhile, the interior is lined with natural cedar chosen for its thermal stability.
Both materials were selected for their longevity and timelessness, ensuring the sauna ages elegantly.
Another key feature of the home sauna is its integrated technological elements, which allow users to control the temperature, lighting and session length via their smartphones.
There is also a built-in audio system for guided breathwork and mindfulness sessions. Wiring for these features is all hidden to maintain the home sauna's clean-cut look.
Luminar utilises an infrared heating system designed for fast and even heat distribution. According to Sun Home Saunas, this system has a low electromagnetic field (EMF) rating, meaning it is engineered to minimise exposure to electromagnetic radiation.
It is also designed to operate at higher temperatures than other infrared models and to maintain consistent temperatures during sessions.
Here, Sun Home Saunas sought to balance the home sauna's design with performance, ensuring balanced heat distribution and the ability to use it every day.
"Our goal was to create what we believe belongs in the conversation around the best home sauna – something that feels architectural, durable, and visually restrained, rather than temporary or purely utilitarian," said Fish.
