Tottenham fans react as James Maddison steps up recovery from ACL injury
Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been given a rare boost amid a difficult campaign, with encouraging signs emerging from James Maddison’s ongoing injury recovery.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have had to deal with several setbacks this season, which is only at its halfway point.
Results have been poor on the field, while the new boss, Thomas Frank, has struggled to improve things, leaving fans frustrated and demanding that he go.
Injuries, on the other hand, have continued to hit the Spurs squad, ruling out several players who could help improve the state of play.
James Maddison injury update sparks Tottenham fan reaction
James Maddison is one such player who has been out since last summer after picking up an ACL injury, but the Englishman is now taking positive steps towards recovery, having been spotted on the training pitches having a kick about.
Spurs fans who have caught wind of this latest development have been left delighted, with many calling for the attacking midfielder to return quickly.
One Tottenham fan said, “Save us”, while another added, “can’t wait to have you back”. Another claimed his progress was a big positive, saying, “Will be a bit of ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ when we see you and Deki back in a matchday squad!”
One more was excited, adding, “Lets get it LAD!”, while despite having a more serious injury than Dejan Kulusevski, one fan commented, “You might even return before Kulusevski”.
Another added, “Speedy recovery Madders. Christ we need you! ???? please come back better than ever and control our midfield. You and CG”, while one more Tottenham fan contributed, “Keep working Madders, think the boys need you COYS”.
What Maddison’s return could mean for Spurs
Indeed, it is always a good sign when a player dealing with an ACL injury returns to the training pitches, as it shows they are making good progress in their recovery.
However, given the nature of the injury, it is often best for such players not to be rushed back, as it could lead to them picking up minor issues at different points.
Maddison has already hinted that he will not be able to make Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, and it is also expected that he will return to full action next season.
Spurs are still relying on Xavi Simons as their primary creator, while the hope remains that Kulusevski returns next month or in March.
