Woman dies after being hit by BART train at West Oakland Station
OAKLAND — A woman was killed Friday afternoon when she was struck by a BART train on the tracks at the West Oakland Station, authorities said.
No other information has been released about the woman.
The fatal collision happened about 2:03 p.m. Friday. The woman was pronounced deceased at the station and firefighters were in the process of removing her body from the tracks.
The death caused the West Oakland station to be temporarily closed, although trains were still traveling through the Transbay Tube on tracks opposite the collision site, BART officials said.
Officials did say red and green line service was temporarily suspended while police and firefighters dealt with the fatality.
