£50m Tottenham target is still a ‘maybe’ on deadline day ‘at the right price’
Journalist Ben Jacobs has named one big-money attacker Tottenham Hotspur could still sign before the window slams shut.
Much to the consternation of Tottenham Hotspur fans, the club have not been able to strengthen their attack so far this window.
While Thomas Frank has refused to rule out late deals, time is now running out, with only hours left until the window slams shut.
However, a journalist has said that a late move for an exciting Ligue 1 attacker may still be on the cards for the Lilywhites.
A late Maghnes Akliouche deal may be a possibility for Tottenham
Spurs have been linked with Maghnes Akliouche all through the month, with reports indicating that Tottenham would have to pay £50m to land the Monaco star.
Ben Jacobs believes that the 23-year-old could still arrive through the door at Hotspur Way before the deadline, but he pointed out that the Frenchman’s preference to play on the right may cause second thoughts at Spurs.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport’s Market Madness Podcast: “You’ve got Akliouche, who can play on the right or the left, and remember, Mohammed Kudus is injured, and the likes of Savinho and Yan Diomande, two other players that Tottenham really like, I’m not so sure that either of those latter two deals will be possible between now and the end of the window.
“Akliouche, maybe, for the right price, but then when Kudus comes back, he’d have to be pushed centrally or over to the left-hand side. So that would be a consideration, because he prefers playing on the right-hand side. And I think Tottenham’s long-term plans are to find a left-sided attacker.”
Who are the other attackers Spurs are eyeing?
There continue to be suggestions in the media that Tottenham have not given up on their pursuit of Omar Marmoush, although that appears to be a difficult deal to complete at this stage.
Over recent days, there have been claims that Spurs are willing to pay the release clause for Osasuna star Victor Munoz.
However, Thomas Frank recently promised Tottenham fans that the club will have a ‘big summer’, which could be an indication that no more players will arrive through the door before the transfer deadline.
