Super Bowl LX: What Happened the Last Time the Patriots Played the Seahawks?
Super Bowl LX is happening this Sunday, and the match will see the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks for the NFL championship.
The Patriots and the Seahawks have famously played each other in the Super Bowl before, back in 2015. The Patriots were victorious with a score of 28-24, culminating in one of the most exciting Super Bowl final quarters in recent memory.
But that was more than a decade ago, and the teams have played each other multiple times since then—to varying results.
The Seahawks Beat The Patriots in Their Last Game in 2024
Outside of the Super Bowl, the last regular season NFL game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks was on September 15, 2024. The teams played on the Patriots' home turf at Gilette Stadium in Massachusetts, with over 65,000 fans from across the country cheering them on.
The game got off to a relatively slow start, with Ja'Lynn Polk and DK Metcalf landing one touchdown each for their respective teams in the first quarter. Joey Slye landed two field goals for the Patriots in the second quarter, bringing the score to 17-13 at halftime.
The final quarter saw Jason Myers make a desperate field goal for the Seahawks, equalizing the score and taking the game to overtime. He then scored another field goal, sending the Seahawks into the lead and ultimately bringing victory to his team.
How The Super Bowl Starting Lineups Compare To 2024
Seakhawks MVP Jason Myers will be back for the Super Bowl this year, but the other two scorers from Seattle's 2024 match, DK Metcalf and Zach Charbonnet, won't be starting with the team. Metcalf was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in March 2025, and Charbonnet suffered a leg injury last month.
The Seahawks' starting quarterback, Geno Smith, was also traded away in 2025. He's now with the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Seahawks will start with new addition Sam Darnold instead.
For the Patriots, Rhamondre Stevenson is the only returning scorer from the 2024 game. Polk and Slye were both traded away, to the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints, respectively.
