JK Rowling Addresses Claims She Invited Jeffrey Epstein to 'Harry Potter & the Cursed Child' Opening Night
JK Rowling is shutting down a rumor involving herself and Jeffrey Epstein.
In the latest batch of documents released from the Epstein files, there were several documents pertaining to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the spinoff play that Rowling wrote for the Potter series.
One document, dated April 22, 2018 included an invitation to see an opening of The Cursed Child on Broadway. This was years after Epstein was already a convicted sex offender.
The invitation said that the recipient and a guest were invited to opening night of the show and was addressed from Rowling and producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender.
Rumors spread online that the invite came from the controversial author, and she addressed them directly.

“This is beyond silly,” Rowling wrote in a statement on X. “Neither I, nor anybody on my team, ever met, communicated with or invited Jeffrey Epstein to anything.”
