Florida Abortions Drop 46% After Heartbeat Law Saves Thousands of Babies
In a powerful affirmation of Florida’s commitment to protecting the unborn, new state data shows that abortions performed in Florida clinics have plummeted by almost half since the implementation of the state’s six-week heartbeat protection law. According to the Tampa Bay Times, utilizing data from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) “Just over 44,200 abortions were provided by Florida clinics last year, the fewest for more than a decade and a 46% drop from 2022 when more than 82,000 terminations were recorded.”
This dramatic decline is no accident. Florida’s law, which halted abortions once a heartbeat is detectable, has clearly made a difference. Fewer babies are losing their lives in our state clinics, and that is cause for celebration.
Even the most vulnerable cases show the law’s impact. The number of abortions under the rape exception fell sharply to 58 last year — roughly 50% fewer than in each of the past five years — highlighting that life-affirming policies are helping more women choose life even in difficult circumstances.

This is wonderful news as studies show that grief was more common and intense after abortion than relief, especially in coerced abortions. A 2025 study on “Grief Intensity After Abortion” showed that 39% of women who choose abortion reported persistent negative feelings 20 years later. Multiple studies show that often women experience increased grief over time.
I can, with 100% accuracy attest to this as so many women have shared their personal grief stories with me following their abortions. While the original reporting notes that sadly, 10,400 Florida women traveled out of state or used telehealth services, the core truth remains: in Florida itself, tens of thousands of lives are being spared every year, and countless women and girls are spared a lifetime of grief because the law now protects the most innocent among us.
While, admittedly, we have more work to do in our life- saving effort, this is a profound moral victory! Florida Right to LIFE is leading the way in this battle and Florida is showing the rest of the nation that when we value every heartbeat, every life has a chance to thrive. Families are growing.
Mothers are finding support. And babies who once had no voice now have a future. Life is winning in Florida — and that is something worth rejoicing over. Every baby saved is a reason to celebrate.
Florida’s pro-life laws are working, and the future looks brighter for the next generation
