Mark Zuckerberg’s $300m Superyacht Spotted at ‘Mexico’s Surf Capital’
Mark Zuckerberg is stupid rich, with a net worth around $250 billion.
And what do the absurdly wealthy do with their money? It depends. A bit of philanthropy, helping make the world a better place, and giving back types of things.
But they also like to buy very expensive things. A little treat here and there. For Zuck, one of those is his $300 million superyacht, Launchpad, and its $100 million support vessel, Wingman. And recently, the boats have been spotted around Cabo San Lucas.
According to Luxury Launches, the boats arrived in “Mexico’s surf capital, where the Meta CEO may be chasing Baja waves to rinse away the stress of his $70 billion metaverse slump.”
They added: “It is no secret that surfing for about an hour each morning to cope with the daily onslaught of bad news is how this billionaire father of three likes to de-stress. Baja is famous for its waves, and Zuckerberg is well aware of that fact. Costa Azul itself is one of the region’s most reliable breaks, while other Baja favorites like Cerritos and the long right-hand points further up the peninsula have drawn surfers south for decades.”
However, they don’t even know if Meta CEO is on the boat or not.
As for surfing, yes, Zuck does it. But not much in the traditional sense. Like a few years ago, when he brought Bloomberg along for a wake surfing session off his Lake Tahoe compound.
“Unlike a normal surf wave,” Zuck offered advice to the show’s host, “a surf wave pushes forward. This pushes a little to the side. So, you have to lean into it a little bit.”
Then, there was that time that Zuck posted a video of himself hydrofoil surfing a large, unbreaking wall of water somewhere in Hawaii. That clip garnered praise from surf luminaries: “Hell yeah. Charging, bro.” – Zeke Lau; “Looks like a blast.” – Jamie O’Brien; “We on for Jaws next week?” – Kai Lenny.
If you’re in Cabo, keep your eyes peeled for a pale-faced foil surfer in the lineup.
