Brad Pitt's Tarantino Sequel Makes Surprise Appearance Among Super Bowl Trailers
The first trailer for The Adventures of Cliff Booth was shown during the Super Bowl commercials, despite reports that Netflix would not be releasing any teasers in the prime spot this year.
Variety was accurate in its reports that films such as Hoppers, Disclosure Day, and Scream 7 would debut trailers throughout Super Bowl LX, but it seems the publication's claim that Netflix is "sitting out the Super Bowl entirely" was wrong.
Netflix Offered a First Look at 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth'
The Adventures of Cliff Booth stars Brad Pitt as his beloved character from Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The actor even won an Oscar for the role, which saw him play a disillusioned stuntman who made a name for himself in late '60s Hollywood.
The sequel will be penned by Tarantino, but David Fincher will be coming on-board as director. Netflix has been very quiet about the project so far, with no confirmed release date or plot synopsis offered. The project has been shooting since July last year, and reportedly wrapped filming just a matter of weeks ago.
The film's extended cast includes Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis. No comment has been given regarding a potential return from LeonardoDiCaprio, who starred alongside Pitt in the original film.
The story will reportedly take place in 1977, almost a decade after the events of Tarantino's film. The project also marks a long-awaited reunition between Fincher and Pitt, who collaborated on Se7en and Fight Club back in the '90s and haven't worked together since The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in 2008.
