WATCH: Brian Bennett takes a stunning flying catch to dismiss Nadeem Khan in T20 World Cup 2026
T20 World Cup 2026: Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett pulled off a sensational catch to dismiss Nadeem Khan during his side’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener against Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Monday.
Brain Bennet completed a breathtaking diving catch
Bennett’s brilliant effort near the boundary rope quickly emerged as one of the leading contenders for Catch of the Tournament.
The dismissal came during the 20th over of Oman’s innings, with Nadeem at the crease facing Zimbabwe pacer Brad Evans. Attempting to muscle a slower delivery that angled into him, Nadeem failed to time the shot properly, and the ball appeared set to drop safely in open space.
That was when Bennett charged in from deep mid-wicket and launched himself full stretch at the last moment, completing a breathtaking diving catch while airborne to send the left-hander back. It was a remarkable piece of fielding and easily one of the standout catches of the tournament so far.

Coming to the match, Brian Bennett played an unbeaten knock of 48 off 36 balls and guided Zimbabwe to an eight-wicket win over Oman in their T20 World Cup 2026 match here on Monday.
Opting to bowl first, Blessing Muzarabani wreaked havoc with the new ball along with pacer Richard Ngarava. Muzarabani ended with figures of 3/16 in his 4 overs and Richard Ngarava picked 3 wickets and conceded 17 runs in 4 overs.
Pacer Brad Evans also finished with impressive figures of 3/18 from 3.5 overs in a brilliant Zimbabwean bowling performance.
Zimbabwe started their chase on a high, thanks to courtesy of Tadiwanashe Marumani who scored 21 off 11 balls before Wasim Ali pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss the opener.
Sufyan Mehmood struck again in the same over, dismissing Dion Myers for a duck.
But Bennett and experienced wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor (31 retired hurt off 30 balls) stitched 68 runs for the third wicket, guiding Zimbabwe to 8-wickets win in just 13. 3 overs.
Earlier, Vinayak Shukla (28 off 21 balls), Sufyan Mehmood (25 off 39) and Nadeem Khan (20 off 18) contributed crucial runs with the bat for Oman.
Oman suffered early setback with top-order collapse
Oman started on a disappointing note as their top-order collapsed. Mehmood and wicketkeeper Shukla tried to stabilise the Oman innings with a partnership of 42 runs for the sixth wicket, but Oman lost their sixth wicket in the form of Shukla.
He was sent back by Ngarava after a brilliant catch by wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor off a back of a length delivery that cramped the batter for space.
This was soon followed by the wicket of Jiten Ramanandi as Ngarava struck for the third time in the game and Oman slipped to 71 for seven in the 15th over.
Evans then broke the resistance of Mehmood as the batter holed out at deep square leg after a half-hearted pull shot.
