Travis Kelce’s Ex Kayla Nicole Claps Back After Taylor Swift Seemingly Called Her Out in ‘Opalite’ Music Video
Days after Taylor Swift seemed to reignite feud rumors with fiancé Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole, the former sports journalist clapped back in a big way: via a Super Bowl commercial on Feb. 8.
The 34-year-old appeared in an ad for Sleeper, starring comedian Tiffany Haddish and NBA player Ben Simmons. “Have you or someone you know been injured emotionally in a high-profile relationship? It’s very common,” Haddish says in the ad, which was also posted to X.
“Are your exes snubbing you in commercials?” Simmons adds, referring to his ex Kendall Jenner’s Fanatics Super Bowl ad that threw shade at her NBA ex-boyfriends.
“If so, you might be entitled to retribution,” Haddish continues, prompting Simmons to correct, “No, no compensation.”
The duo called themselves “emotional injury specialist, Simmons & Haddish,” aka, “the ex-communicators,” who will confront your ex for you.
At this point, Nicole appears on screen as the “ex of a certain NFL player,” obviously referring to the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, who she dated on and off for five years beginning in 2017. “Don’t get me started on these two,” she jokes. “They’ve got no idea what they’re doing. At all.”

Other celeb exes appeared on screen, included Cardi B’s estranged ex Offset. Nicole came back, adding, “Simmons & Haddish promised me that they could put an end to this whole ‘ex-girlfriend’ fiasco quickly.”
Simmons interjects, “That doesn’t sound right.”
“Rapidly,” adds Nicole. “That’s not what I said,” Simmons replies. “OK, pronto,” Nicole tries again. “I said swiftly, why is that so hard to remember?” Simmons quips, clearly alluding to Swift.
Swift released the music video for her song “Opalite” on Feb. 2, in which she seemingly referenced Nicole. This video — which also sparked beef with Elmo — stars Swift as Lonely Girl dating a rock and Domhnall Gleeson as Lonely Boy dating a cactus.
Fans noticed the rock is like a dead weight, representing her relationship with ex Joe Alwyn, and the cactus represents Kelce’s ex Nicole. One person wrote on Reddit, “The rock is cold (emotionally). The cactus hurts you when you try to get close to it.”

Another person chimed in, “The rock is Joe, a stable but emotionally unavailable partner. Taylor loves him, he is her best friend, but she is putting in a lot more effort than he is into the relationship. … She thinks she is the problem so she sprays opalite on herself.”
“The cactus is Travis’ ex, a difficult partner. He always tries to get close to her but constantly gets hurt in the process, despite this he prefers healing the wounds and ignore the pain in order to stay with her,” they continued, adding that he sprays the opalite on the cactus because he sees her as the problem.
When “Opalite” was released on Oct. 3, people quickly connected the dots that the song is about Nicole. In the second verse, Swift sings, “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone. You were in it for real, she was in her phone and you were just a pose.”
She added, “And don’t we try to love love? We give it all we got / You finally left the table, and what a simple thought / You’re starving ’til you’re not.”
Weeks later, Nicole opened up about the backlash she has received since Swift started dating Kelce in 2023. “It’s so weird. I can’t lie,” she told StyleCaster in Oct. 2025. “It has definitely taken some getting used to. It’s not an easy transition to make, because a lot of times, when I see the things written about me, to be honest, it comes off really dehumanizing.”
