California Democrats Give Planned Parenthood $90 Million to Kill More Babies
California Democrats approved $90 million in taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood yesterday — a move pro-life advocates condemned as enabling the abortion giant to continue killing unborn babies.
The Democratic-controlled Legislature passed Senate Bill 106, providing the one-time grant to offset losses from the Trump administration’s decision to block taxpayer funding for the abortion company.
The bill, carried by Sen. John Laird, D-Santa Cruz, and pushed by Senate President Pro Tempore Monique Limón, D-Santa Barbara, and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, D-Salinas, now heads to Gov. Gavin Newsom for his expected signature.
Rivas said in a statement that the funding counters federal policies, declaring, “Trump is tearing down healthcare and increasing costs. Democrats are building it up — investing millions in women’s health and maternal care, because families come first in California.”

But Planned Parenthood jut kills babies and provides very little legitimate health care that women can get from any doctor or medical clinic or hospital in the state.
The legislation follows a separate $140 million allocation by Newsom in October to keep Planned Parenthood abortion businesses open, bringing the total taxpayer support to more than $200 million.
Pro-life groups blasted the proposal as a misuse of public dollars to prop up an industry focused on ending unborn lives, ignoring women who choose to keep their babies.
“It’s interesting that even Newsom wouldn’t give them everything they asked for,” said Mary Rose Short, director of outreach for Right to Life California. “The taxpayers will be giving them over $200 million, and for a very specific subset of the population and not helping women who want to keep their babies.”
The funding aims to replace cuts imposed by the Republican-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed last year by President Trump, which prohibited federal Medicaid funding from going to Planned Parenthood. A majority of Americans oppose having their tax dollars fund abortions or abortion companies.
Republican Assemblyman David Tangipa, R-Clovis, voiced opposition on the Assembly floor, questioning the priorities. “Why does Planned Parenthood get a $90-million grant when right now over 60 hospitals in the state of California are on the verge of shutting down?” Tangipa asked. “Hospitals across our state that deliver high quality care to women are on the brink of closure.”
