Looking for Love This Valentine's Day? Try Chairlift Speed Dating at These 8 Resorts
Notoriously, mountain towns are home to quick flings, missed connections, and fleeting crushes. Something about the alpine air makes people crazy, and we’re not just talking about the powder.
Always, though, amid the seasonal shuffle, there’s the promise of a lasting relationship with a person who actually likes skiing as much as you do.
In service of trying to forge those bonds, several ski resorts, from Utah to California and beyond, are hosting chairlift speed dating sessions on Valentine’s Day. Keep reading for more.
The 2026 POWDER Photo Annual is here! Look for a print copy on a newsstand near you, or click here to have a copy shipped directly to your front door.

The premise is simple. You get in line. You hop on the lift. You spend the ride chatting with the person sitting next to you and, if there’s a spark, you keep the party going.
Plus, in the event that you’re both feeling like swiping left, it’s just a chairlift ride—it’ll be over before you know it.
At Brian Head, Utah, speed dating is happening at the Blackfoot Chairlift from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Valentine's Day. Skiers or snowboarders will need to sign up with a QR code near the lift. Then, after receiving a lanyard, they can start looking for love. To sweeten the deal, Brian Head is offering 50% off entree vouchers to the Last Chair Grill & Brews, a useful discount for prospective dinner dates.
Kirkwood, in California, is hosting its speed dating event on the Sunrise chairlift starting at 1:30 p.m. And at Jackson Hole, Wyoming, you can take a shot at love by riding the Marmot Chair this Valentine’s Day.
Plus, with the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition going down at the resort the day before, who knows? You might end up on the chairlift with a real king or queen.
Life partner or not, chairlift speed dating has one major advantage over scrolling the apps: no matter how each ride goes, you can always look forward to skiing back to the bottom. Plus, we could all use a collective break from screen time.
