Cargo Ship Creates ‘Insane’ Wave from Huge Boat Wake (Video)
It’s a simple scientific equation. When a large object enters a body of water, displacement occurs. The largest tsunami ever recorded happened from such an instance, with a huge landslide falling into a bay, and creating a whopping 1,720 feet…supposedly.
On a much smaller scale, think of it like an ice cube dropped in a glass of water.
Then, scaling thing up, let’s take a large cargo ship, cruising through a narrow riverway. The result is straightforward – the boat will create displacement, occasionally waves, even perhaps ones suitable for surfing, and a headache for smaller fishing boats.
The scenes above come from Vietnam’s Lòng Tàu River, as cargo ships pass through, on their way to Ho Chi Minh City. And as they travel through the river, cruising at slower speeds than they would on the open ocean, they create waves.
Novelty wave surf specialists have long ridden these boat wakes, but maybe not of this caliber. This looks downright dangerous. But perhaps it’s possible.
Nonetheless, there’s something mesmerizing about watching these massive vessels, as they cruise through the river, and create these wild displacement waves.
Maybe one day, the Ben Gravys and Dylan Graves’ of the world will travel to Vietnam to score this ultimate novelty boat wake wave. But for now, here’s more travel information:
“Lòng Tàu River is a picturesque waterway located in Vietnam, known for its serene landscapes and vibrant ecosystems. This river is often explored by boat tours that offer breathtaking views of lush greenery and local wildlife. Visitors can experience the unique culture of the surrounding communities, with opportunities to witness traditional fishing practices and local markets along the riverbanks. The area is particularly enjoyable for those seeking tranquility, making it a popular choice for eco-tourism and relaxation.”
