Boban Marjanovic Is Ready for His Hollywood Closeup
Over the last several years, while Boban Marjanovic was putting his 7-foot-4 frame to good use in the NBA and overseas, the Serbian hoopster has also been pursuing his acting career.
Since 2019, Marjanovic has appeared in seven different movies and television series, including a recent cameo in Happy Gilmore 2. In a conversation with Men's Journal this weekend, the 37-year-old said he's hoping to increase his on-screen profile in the coming years.
"I hope somebody, a producer, calls me and says, 'Hey, Boban, we want you. We want you in the Game of Thrones. We want you to be in a James Bond movie. We want you to be in a Marvel movie. We want you to be a superhero, you know?'" Marjanovic said.
This weekend, Marjanovic is in Los Angeles for the NBA All-Star Game, where he did meet and greets with fans at the AT&T Dunk District. He's currently playing professionally in Slovenia, and if you're looking for him elsewhere, you can find him playing Drago in two episodes of the new Robin Hood series on MGM+.
"We just recently finished the Robin Hood TV series. It's fun," he said. "Of course, my role is not huge, but I really have fun to be in that TV show where they have good ratings and good reputation so far."
A homecoming weekend for Boban
Something of a Renaissance man, Marjanovic is also an aspiring DJ, having released his first techno track last summer, when he also played at the Rave The Planet” parade.
Marjanovic last played in the NBA for the Houston Rockets during the 2023-24 season. Overall, he spent nine years in the league, including parts of two with the Los Angeles Clippers from 2017-19.
Some of the fans he met this weekend at the AT&T Dunk District have followed him dating back to his time in LA, making these past few days extra meaningful.
"You know, it's so amazing. To get out to my fans, to be around the people, to remember how my days were when I played for the Clippers," Marjanovic said. "Of course, it's my family. I lived here for two years. It's been amazing to be part of all this."
