'I will destroy it all': Denver mayoral candidate delivers chilling social media threat
An independent mayoral candidate in Denver, Colorado, posted multiple expletive-filled outbursts on Monday, threatening a prominent local journalist.
Robert Treta, a local construction businessman who has backed a platform of building tiny homes across the city to improve affordability, previously ran in a crowded field in 2023 and lost that race — but not before sitting for an interview with 9News' Kyle Clark.
Evidently, Treta is still seething about the result of that interview, because he posted aggressive attacks on Clark and 9News to X, one year out from another potential bid for office in 2027.
" get out of Denver and Colorado before I force you to. hey 9 news. I don’t f--- around. I hope you know this. Do your homework on me."
The startling vow forced the journalist to respond.
"Hi Robert. I wish you the best of luck in your run for Denver Mayor, but language like this is unnecessary," Clark replied.
Treta, however, wasn't done.
"
I can tell you right now. That ain’t happening. And don’t f------ play stupid. You’re best off blocking me for the 20th time. You are. So much more to say here. Really there is. Tell me again how that FEF sanctioned debate was negotiated with Denver and 9news. I know. I know. You won’t engage me on that either."
