F1 Races Are Coming to IMAX: Here Are the Dates You Need To Know
Apple TV will bring the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship to select IMAX theaters across the United States as part of their ongoing partnership with F1.
Five of the biggest and most popular Grand Prix races will be streamed live in theaters in over fifty locations in the U.S—including fan-favorites Silverstone and Monaco.
Apple TV Is Going All In on Formula One
Following Apple TV's enormous success with F1: The Movie last year, the streamer has officially partnered with the sport to make all races available to stream on the platform at no extra cost for existing subscribers.
The film, which stars Brad Pitt and Damon Idris as rival F1 drivers, also marked a historic partnership between Apple and IMAX, as the entire project was shot on IMAX cameras. $97.6 million of the film's total $654 million box office haul came exlucisvely from IMAX screens, which was an enormous success for both parties.
To celebrate this partnership, Apple and IMAX have partnered again to bring five key races to the big screen. These races are: Miami Grand Prix, Monaco Grand Prix, British Grand Prix, Italian Grand Prix, and United States Grand Prix.
Miami Grand Prix will be the first race screened in IMAX theaters (on May 3), and the sixth race of the championship overall. Monaco Grand Prix will take place on June 7, with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone rounding out the summer stretch on July 5. The screenings will recommence in the fall with the Italian Grand Prix in Monza on September 6 and the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin on October 25. A full list of participating theaters has not yet been announced.
“F1 is a rapidly growing force in sports and culture in the US, and by bringing F1 on Apple TV live to IMAX theaters nationwide, we’re delivering the energy and excitement to even more screens in a truly immersive way,” said Oliver Schusser, the Vice President of Music, Sports, and Beats at Apple.
