A week of festivities is on tap at this fast-casual spot’s upcoming San Mateo opening
Mixt, a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in salads, sandwiches and warm bowls, is set to open its 20th location in San Mateo on March 3.
The sustainability-focused restaurant chain was launched in 2006 in San Francisco after co-founders Leslie and David Silverglide got the idea when they were craving a quick, fresh meal on their way back from Lake Tahoe, according to its website.“Opening in San Mateo is an exciting milestone for Mixt. Not only will this be our twentieth location, we are also celebrating 20 years,” said Leslie Silverglide, Mixt co-founder and CEO, in a press release.
During its opening week, the Mixt team in San Mateo will be serving up an array of freebies and promotions. Here’s what’s scheduled so far, according to spokesperson Laura Shelton. These promotions are based on supply limitations and subject to terms, she says.
- Tuesday, March 3: Receive a free Mixt Baggu-brand bag and a complimentary Orangetheory class with your entree purchase.
- Wednesday, March 4: Receive a custom mini cupcake from Sibby’s Cupcakery in San Mateo with your entree purchase.
- Thursday, March 4: Scan a QR Code at the register and receive a free first Bodyrok class, and enter a raffle to win a class three-pack.
- Friday, March 6: Receive a free pair of Mixt custom-engraved bamboo salad servers with your entree purchase.
- Saturday, March 7: Participate in a neighborhood scavenger hunt and find Mixt dog toys and free salads around downtown San Mateo.
- Sunday, March 8: If you drop a postcard in its mailbox, Mixt will mail it for you — postage paid.
There will also be a claw machine stocked with prizes and a drawing to receive free Mixt for a year.
The restaurant fills the space left by the former B Street Books, which moved to Burlingame last May. The Mixt chain expanded from San Francisco and Los Angeles into the East Bay in 2019 and today has additional locations in San Ramon, Oakland, Berkeley and Mill Valley, as well as Texas.
