School Closings & Delays Across U.S. as Winter Storm Hits East Coast
Plenty of schools across the United States have been forced to close due to the harsh weather conditions in states including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C.
The National Weather Service has issued severe weather warnings across the east coast, with New York and New Jersey among the first states to get hit by the extreme cold.

While some schools have managed to take learning fully online, others have opted for a more traditional 'snow day' following the weather warnings. These will differ from city to city, but Maryland is facing the most general closures given its vicinity to the official warnings.
The U.S. government has also issued a two-hour delay for federal employees in the Washington D.C. area to account for increased travel times. The announcement reads: "Federal agencies in the Washington, DC area are Open under a 2 hour Delayed Arrival and employees have the Option for Unscheduled Leave or Unscheduled Telework."
The majority of universities across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. will remain open with students given the option for synchronous virtual learning via Zoom or similar video streaming services.
All public schools in D.C. will remain open with a two-hour travel delay in place.
