MILL VALLEY
Suspect accused
of DUI, assault
A Mill Valley woman was arrested on allegations of intoxicated driving after nearly hitting a Marin County sheriff’s sergeant.
The incident happened at about 1 a.m. Monday when sheriff’s deputies were assisting with a medical incident along Shoreline Highway in Mill Valley, sheriff’s Lt. Brennan Collins said. The sergeant dodged the oncoming car, returned to a patrol vehicle and went after the suspect.
The suspect drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and stopped at the toll plaza in San Francisco. Officers evaluated her and determined she was intoxicated.
Scarlett Emmaline Ness, 20, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, assault with a deadly weapon, driving at more than 100 mph, reckless driving on a freeway and possessing false identification. She was released on bail and could not be reached for comment.
NOVATO
Hearing set on
permit request
The city has set a hearing on a proposal for a family entertainment site at the Downtown Novato Center.
The business, called Kitsch + Sync, would be at 1757 and 1767 Grant Ave.
“Kitsch + Sync is a family-friendly café and play concept that combines a quick-service restaurant with an indoor play zone and a small, supervised outdoor play/seating area,” the company said in its application. “The project is designed to meet the needs of local families by providing a safe, engaging environment for children while offering high-quality meals, beverages, and a comfortable space for parents.”
The proposed hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The business plans to sell beer and wine for onsite consumption only.
A city zoning administrator is scheduled to hold a hearing on the use permit application at 2 p.m. Thursday. The hearing will be held at the Community Development Department at 922 Machin Ave.
ROSS
More stop signs
planned at site
The Town Council plans to install a four-way stop at the intersection of Bellagio Road, Canyon Road and Winding Way.
The town is pursuing the project in response to neighborhood concerns about traffic and pedestrian safety, Richard Simonitch, the public works director, wrote in a staff report. The estimated project cost is $11,000. Simonitch said the signs should be installed in the spring.
The council adopted a resolution to advance the project at its meeting on Feb. 12.
“The existing single stop sign on northbound Canyon Road in the area where the three streets intersect is inadequate to regulate the four-way vehicular traffic through the intersection,” the resolution said.
