Classic MTV Show Joins Netflix One Year After Cancelation
MTV's Ridiculousness has found a new streaming home on Netflix after the show was canceled in 2025.
Ridiculousness is a popular comedy clip show that sees host Rob Dyrek introduce special guests to hilarious home videos divided into various categories. The show ran on MTV from 2011 until 2025, before it ultimately came to an end last year.
Three Seasons of 'Ridiculousness' Are Streaming on Netflix
Although Netflix has offered to be the new home for Ridiculousness, the streamer isn't housing all 49 seasons of the show. Instead, Netflix has only bought the three most recent seasons for its catalog.
Ridiculousness has been a staple of MTV programming for the past decade and a half, so the news of its cancelation was understandably a big hit for the music television broadcaster. The show had been suffering decling viewership, primarily due to its now-outdated format.
According to Variety, reruns of Ridiculousness will continue to air on MTV following the show's cancelation, but no new episodes will be produced. They report the show was axed due to MTV's desire for "a more curated slate of content” that “embraces its experimental DNA” and represents “different creative voices” and a “refreshed programming.”
Although Ridiculousness definitely feels like a product of its time, having the show available somewhere on streaming is an important way of preserving this cultural time capsule for future audiences.
The show will be available to stream on Netflix in the U.S. from February 26, 2026.
