First spawn
I redug our garden wildlife pond in May 2019 having filled the original pond when we had tiny children back in the late 1990s. There were dozens of frogs back then (100+) and we always saw one or two somewhere in the garden for years thereafter. They returned in force for pond 2.0. Some summer nights in recent years, there’d be almost 40. The pond is half the size of the original ornamental pond the previous owners of our house created, but seems to be thriving.

There was nothing in 2019, obviously as it was past the season, we didn’t get any spawn in covid year 2020 either. That was a real shame as I did a popular spoof nature documentary called PondWatch on social media that year and it would’ve been a highlight, I’m sure. Anyway, here are the dates of first spawn sightings since.
