Surprise Movie With Major Star Hits Netflix This Week
Hermann Goering is one of the most villainous characters in world history. One of Adolf Hitler's top henchmen, the second-in-charge, bombastic, and overweight Goering was the top-ranking Nazi to be tried at Nuremberg.
Actor Russell Crowe captured Goering's lazily arrogant charisma, as well as the key moment at trial when the prosecutor flipped the switch, unearthing the evil within the garrulous man. In all of his bluster, Goering appeared to believe until the bitter end that he could somehow manipulate the public into buying his self-serving narrative. It didn't work, as the crimes were too great and his loyalty to Hitler too strong, but he escaped the hangman's noose through a final act of suicide.
Now the movie that captured Goering's emotional dance with an American psychiatrist, in the days both before and during his trial, is about to hit Netflix this week. The acclaimed movie is called the same name as the trial, Nuremberg, and it's fresh out of theaters. According to Forbes, the film is "coming to Netflix this week on streaming video on demand." It will be available on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The Nuremberg Movie Was a Surprise Box Office Hit
According to Variety,Nuremberg performed well at the box office, earning $46 million worldwide. This return is considered "strong," the trade publication noted.
The movie Nuremberg was in theaters on November 7, 2025, and it was available for premium video streaming purchases on December 23, 2025, according to Forbes.

Variety described the movie as a "hidden gem compared to several of its awards season competitors." Other movies competing during awards season earned far less than Nuremberg, Variety reported. In particular, Crowe's transformative performance has been praised. The movie has a sky-high Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 95%, giving it strong word of mouth.
According to Variety, the film did particularly well overseas in countries like France and Germany.
The Nuremberg Movie Follows Real Life But Deviates From It in Some Key Ways

The Nuremberg trials have produced at least one classic movie before, Judgment at Nuremberg. That 1961 movie starred Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, and Marlene Dietrich, quite the lineup.
The Russell Crowe vehicle also stars Rami Malek as Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, who befriends Goering in an attempt to understand him, a quest that ultimately leads to Goering's downfall on the witness stand.
According to the Smithsonian Magazine, a psychiatrist was indeed assigned to evaluate Goering and the other Nazi leaders after the war and during the Nuremberg Trials in real life.
Goering even asked the U.S. Army doctor to adopt his daughter Edda if both Goering and his wife died, although this moment didn't make the film.
In real life, as in the movie, Goering was “a flying ace in World War One who became a big man, nearly 300lbs,” BBC reported. The Nazi leaders on trial really were held in a hotel that functioned as a prison. Other details also match real life, such as Goering's ability to speak English, his obesity, and his narcissism.
