Why We Love This Deal
With the seasons in flux, now is the time to be thinking about packable jackets. A good packable jacket should have a high warmth-to-weight ratio and should have at least some combination of weather-readiness, insulation, and ability to pack into itself. Models that come to mind are Patagonia's Houdini, Cotopaxi's Fuego, and REI Co-op's Magma. But we just found a fantastic choice from Kuhl for nearly $50 off, and it's more than worth making your go-to for spring.
Kuhl’s The One Insulated Hoody is on sale for just $134 in two of its colors. While the “before” price here is listed as $179, this jacket’s listed MSRP is actually $195 in its solid color varieties. So, in a way, this may represent a deal in excess of 30% off of what you could pay for one of these jackets. Regardless of how you look at it, Kuhl deals are exceedingly rare, and whenever REI pops a few out, sizes sell through quickly.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Sizes Available: From small to 2XL
- Color Options: This deal is available in 2 of the 5 colorways available at REI.
- Features: Windproof, water-resistant, insulated, arm pocket, gusseted pits
- Key Materials: Nylon and polyester
- Best Use Case: This is a perfect hooded jacket to bring along “just in case” as it is lightweight, warming, and resists rain and wind.
Between sudden showers, patches of warm then cold weather, and kite-worthy winds, the earliest days of spring are a challenge. This jacket with a thin layer of synthetic Aero Knit fiber insulation is poised to keep you warm, deflect wind, and resist rain, and by its slim nature is easy enough to pack even if it doesn't actually get used on your trips.
Some features make this an excellently functional outdoor jacket. While one might associate on-the-sleeve pockets with bomber jackets, the zippered pocket on the left sleeve is quite handy (at least for right-handed wearers) and is highly accessible. And that’s doubly so considering the gusseted pits, tailored for extra range of motion. Also worth noting is the reflective highlighting on the jacket’s trim, increasing visibility.

What Shoppers Are Saying
One shopper complimented the jacket’s ability to handle trail conditions, saying it is "lightweight, packs small, and great at keeping me warm.” They also noted that the hood was easy to secure, not budging even in 30 MPH winds.
Another shopper highlighted the contrasting nature of having a jacket that’s so lightweight yet so warm. “It's like they invented some space-age material that reflects all warmth yet repels all wind/water.”
Kuhl’s The One Insulated Hoody is $134 while this deal is ongoing, but when we see products from this brand go on sale at REI—one of the few places where that'll happen—sizes don't stay in stock for long. Get one while they're still available.
